Unnati is a trading name of Fernandes Associates Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 12649648). We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under reference ZC207441.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Fernandes Associates Limited is the data controller. When we refer to "we", "us" or "our" in this policy, we mean Fernandes Associates Limited trading as Unnati.

What data we collect
Depending on the services we provide for you, we may collect and hold the following personal data:
- Name, address, date of birth and contact details
- Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR), National Insurance number and Government Gateway credentials
- Company registration number and details (for limited company clients)
- Financial records, bank statements, invoices and receipts
- Payroll information including employee names, salaries and National Insurance details
- Identity documents for anti-money laundering (AML) verification (e.g. passport or driving licence)
- Any other information needed to carry out your accounting or tax affairs
If you book a discovery call or contact us via email, we also collect your name and email address.
Why we collect it and our lawful basis
We collect and use your personal data for the following purposes:
- To provide our services (contract performance): preparing and filing tax returns, managing accounts, processing payroll, and all other services set out in your engagement letter.
- To comply with legal obligations: we are required by law to carry out anti-money laundering checks, report to HMRC, and retain certain records for prescribed periods.
- Legitimate interests: responding to enquiries, managing our business, and keeping client records up to date.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with third parties only where necessary to deliver our services or comply with the law:
- HMRC — to file returns and meet statutory reporting obligations
- Companies House — for limited company compliance filings
- Xero — our cloud accounting platform, used to process and store your financial data. Xero's privacy policy is available at xero.com/uk/legal/privacy
- Calendly — used to manage discovery call bookings. Calendly's privacy policy is available at calendly.com/privacy
- Our AML supervisor (HMRC) — in line with our anti-money laundering obligations
All third-party processors we use are required to handle your data securely and in accordance with UK data protection law.
How long we keep your data
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide our services and meet our legal obligations:
- Tax and accounting records are kept for a minimum of six years, in line with HMRC requirements
- AML identification records are kept for five years from the end of the business relationship
- Enquiry and discovery call data is kept for up to twelve months if no engagement follows
After these periods, data is securely deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data where we no longer have a lawful basis to hold it
- Object to or restrict how we process your data in certain circumstances
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

This website uses no tracking or advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics tools. The only cookies that may be set are those strictly necessary for the website to function.
